Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser Praises Bill Loiry's Gulf Coast Leadership

Belle Chasse - June 22, 2012. Last week, Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser was a featured speaker at the Gulf Coast Restoration Summit in Destin, Florida.

Hundreds of conference participants listened to President Nungesser and to senior Congressional staff, state legislators, county commissioners, state and city officials, business leaders, environmental experts, and lawyers providing the latest information on the RESTORE Act and other monies designed to help bring financial relief to the people of the U.S. Gulf Coast.

President Clinton Thanks William Loiry

New York - June 14, 2012.

William,

In my travels around the world, I've seen too many people who don't have the tools they need to strengthen their communities and create a better future for themselves and their families. In Rwanda and Malawi, many children are still unable to go to school, many parents can't afford improvements to their homes, and many farming communities remain at the mercy of the weather.

Our work is already starting to make an incredible impact in these countries, and I'm certain that, together, we can help them build a stronger future. And that is all because of you.

Because you refuse to look away when someone is in need, and refuse to assume someone else will solve a problem, we've been able to help thousands of farmers in Rwanda and Malawi increase their yields, find better prices for their harvests, and create a more stable future for themselves and their families.

Your action serves as an inspiration every day. Your support of the Clinton Foundation has made an immeasurable impact on this world, and I cannot thank you enough. Together, we can build a better future.

— Bill Clinton

President Clinton Thanks William Loiry

New York - December 21, 2011.

William,

This year we celebrated a big milestone: 10 years of life-changing work. As I reflect on the remarkable successes of the past decade, I'd first like to express my deepest thanks on behalf of the millions of people around the world whose lives have been touched by your support.

When I left office 10 years ago, I couldn't have imagined all that we'd accomplish together. Thanks to you:

•Cities around the world are reducing their greenhouse gas emissions by more than 2 million tons through projects that also boost local economies.

•13,000 U.S. schools are offering more nutritious foods and physical activity in an effort to fight childhood obesity.

•25,000 Peruvians have received cataract surgeries that help them return to work and earn a living -- benefiting both their families and their communities.

•Entrepreneurs in New York City have received $15 million worth of pro bono consulting services, helping them grow their businesses and create jobs in their communities.

•Smallholder farmers in Rwanda and Malawi have planted 4.5 million trees that have also increased their crop yields, allowing them to support their families and reverse deforestation at the same time.

These are just a few of the tangible steps that have made a measurable, meaningful difference in millions of lives across the globe.

And I am certain that, with your support in the years to come, we can build a world where every child has the same opportunity to succeed, where every individual has the chance to live out his or her dreams, and where our common humanity matters more than our differences.

From everyone at the Clinton Foundation, we wish you a joyful and healthy holiday season.

Sincerely,

Bill Clinton

National Oil Spill Commission Chairman Applaud's William Loiry's Gulf Coast Leadership

Senator Bob Graham, Co-Chairman of the National Oil Spill Commission, was the Opening Keynote Speaker at the Gulf Coast Leadership Summit in New Orleans in April of 2011. Graham subsequently sent Summit Chairman William Loiry the following commendation: "If the purpose of the Gulf Coast Leadership Summit was to be the premier event of the first anniversary of the Macondo tragedy, then you exceeded your aspirations. It was attended by the people most involved, focused their attention on not just the event itself, but what steps are needed to mitigate a repetition, and was engaging for all. Congratulations."

Bill Loiry's 2010 Leadership in Homeland Security, Clean Technology, and Disaster Response

Throughout 2010, Bill Loiry continued his leadership as a facilitator of solutions to our critical problems, bringing together more than 1,200 leaders in the areas of homeland security, clean technology, and disaster response.

Responding to the growing international and domestic threat of new terrorism, hundreds of government and business leaders were invited to Capitol Hill to be briefed by senior Members of Congress on new homeland security legislation; to get the details on the latest program initiatives by top DHS leaders; to examine the latest business solutions for homeland security, ranging from aviation scanners to border security surveillance; and to honor the Department of Homeland Security. Speakers included House Homeland Security Vice Chair Loretta Sanchez, Coast Guard Commandant Thad Allen, and senior officials with Customs & Border Protection.

Responding to the continuing need to increase renewable energy and decrease the pollution of our environment, hundreds of government and business leaders were invited to Capitol Hill to be briefed by senior Members of Congress on new clean energy legislation and to engage in a roundtable discussion on empowering the best clean energy strategies moving forward. Speakers included senior Members of the House Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming and senior officials with the U.S. Department of Energy.

Responding to the worst oil disaster in American history, Bill Loiry and his team identified non-toxic dispersant alternatives and convened hundreds of government, business, and nonprofit leaders in a series of oil spill disaster response conferences along the U.S. Gulf Coast. Speakers included U.S. Senator David Vitter, top BP executives, senior EPA officials, local officials, health and environmental experts, and business leaders with oil spill containment solutions.

On the international front, Bill Loiry increased his work to improve the conditions in Haiti, laid flowers at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw to honor the President of Poland who died in a plane crash, and continued his lifelong quest to improve American-Russian relations.

On the personal front, Loiry visited his 53rd country, dropped ten pounds in a new health campaign, and saw his first NASCAR race.

9/11 Responders Bill Defeated by GOP Filibuster.

A bill to provide medical coverage to first responders and survivors who were exposed to toxins after the 9/11 terrorist attacks was defeated tonight by 42 Republican Senators. These police officers and firefighters who responded to help innocent victims are heroes. The Senators who refused to help them tonight are a disgrace to American public service.
